Frameworks & languages
Deploy the frameworks you already use
Hatchbox isn't a Rails-only tool. If it runs on Ubuntu and builds from a git repository, it deploys — Ruby, JavaScript, Go, and the static site generators in between.
Includes a 7 day free trial. $10 per server per month after that — unlimited apps.
There's no buildpack to pick and no Dockerfile to write — and for everything below, no build script either. Hatchbox recognizes each of these frameworks from the files already in your repository, then installs the right language version, runs the right build commands, and adds the processes your app needs. All on the same $10/server/month, including several of them on the same server.
Deployment guides by framework
- Ruby App server Deploy Ruby on Rails Detected from your Gemfile. Assets, migrations, and workers configured for you. Read the guide
- Ruby App server Deploy Hanami Detected from Gemfile.lock, with the right commands picked for your Hanami version. Read the guide
- Ruby Static or server Deploy Bridgetown Runs bin/bridgetown deploy, and adds a Puma process if you've enabled one. Read the guide
- Go Static site Deploy Hugo Detected from hugo.toml. Submodule themes are checked out before the build. Read the guide
- Ruby Static site Deploy Jekyll Everything GitHub Pages does, minus the plugin allowlist and domain limit. Read the guide
- Ruby Static site Deploy Middleman Rails-style templating and a full Ruby build environment on your own server. Read the guide
- JavaScript Static or SSR Deploy Astro Detected from package.json. Serve the static build, or run the Node adapter. Read the guide
Don't see your framework?
These are the frameworks Hatchbox recognizes on its own, not the limit of what it deploys. Anything that installs from a build script and runs as a process works too — Sinatra, Roda, Django, Express, Phoenix, and plain static output. You just write the build script yourself.
Pin your language versions
Add a .tool-versions file and Hatchbox installs those exact versions of
Ruby, Node, Go, Python, or anything else before your build runs.
Write a build script
Whatever you'd run by hand — install dependencies, compile assets, run migrations. It runs in a fresh release directory on every deploy.
Define your processes
Hatchbox keeps them running, restarts them on deploy, and reverse proxies Caddy to your web process with SSL already handled.
What customers say
I run 15+ Rails apps and static sites with Hatchbox. My bill went from $400/month on Heroku to $28/mo with Hatchbox & DigitalOcean combined.

If you want the most bang for your buck, Hatchbox / Hetzner / DigitalOcean is the killer combo. You can throw sooo much at this and it's crazy how inexpensive it is.
